Loyola University New Orleans

Fr. Carter Digital Equity Fund

When everything happens online,  reliable tech is critical. Students need equal access, because access is potential— and potential changes the world.

A key technology issue for some Loyola students is a lack of resources necessary for accessing Loyola’s enhanced online capabilities and requirements. Gifts to Loyola’s to the Fr. Carter Digital Equity fund will allow the university to provide computers, wifi hotspots, routers, and other equipment to students so that they can work effectively from home and elsewhere.

After 75 years as a member of the Loyola community and many years of service to the university, Fr. Carter retired to join the Jesuit community in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. Though Fr. Carter will no longer be at Loyola, his presence will continue to be felt for generations. One of the most direct ways Fr. Carter's presence will remain with Loyola is through the Fr. Carter Digital Equity Fund. Fr. Carter has long been an early-adopter of emerging technology at Loyola, and his diligence in adapting his instruction to generations of technological advances has inspired the creation of this fund. As Loyola adapts to new realities in the ways students access higher education, the Fr. Carter Digital Equity Fund will provide students with the equipment needed to ensure all Loyola students have access to quality instructional technology.
